Lady Braves close out 7-5A slate with win

GRAY – The H.L. Bourgeois Lady Braves wrapped up District 7-5A play on Tuesday with a 5-0 win over the South Lafourche Lady Tarpons.
Kasie Hebert got the victory in the circle for the Lady Braves (17-11 overall, 9-3 in district)
Maddy Monnier and Meagan McDonald each went 2-for-2 for the Lady Braves, who closed the district season out.
The Lady Tarpons fell to 0-11 in district.
THIBODAUX 3, CENTRAL LAFOURCHE 1
At Thibodaux, Kayla Bland got the victory in the circle for the Lady Tigers as they improved to 10-10 overall and 6-4 in District 7-5A.
Rhea Tardo hit her first career home run for Thibodaux.
Emilee Rodrigue suffered the loss for Central Lafourche, which fell to 8-14 overall and 6-5 in district.
ELLENDER 7, SOUTH TERREBONNE 1
At Bourg, the Lady Patriots pounded out 15 hits to improve to 11-12 overall and 2-5 in District 8-4A.
Alyssa Bush (five hits, nine strikeouts, walk) got the victory in the circle, and Bush (2-for-3, three RBIs), Kyler Trosclair (3-for-4, two runs, two stolen bases), Jacelyn Duthu (2-for-3) and Madison Touchard (2-for-2) led the Ellender offense. South Terrebonne fell to 1-12 and 0-8 in district.
VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 7, MORGAN CITY 2
At Morgan City, Leah Bergeron had eight strikeouts, no walks and allowed five hits in the circle as the Lady Terriers improved to 20-6 overall and 7-0 in District 8-4A. It was also their 14th straight win. Vandebilt had seven hits. Makelle Pena was 2-for-4, Erin Crane was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Kaitlyn Dardar was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a homer.
The Lady Tigers fell to 16-12 and 4-3 in district.
E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC 17, PORT ALLEN 0
At Port Allen, the Lady Cardinals improved to 11-14 overall and 6-3 in District 7-3A after Madison Rodrigue picked up the complete-game, mercy-rule win in the circle. She went five innings, allowed two hits and struck out seven.
Kali Clement (5-for-5), Claire LeBeouf (4-for-4) and Sydney Bordis (3-for-4) led E.D. White (20 hits) at the plate.
ST. JAMES LOSES TWO
At LaPlace, St. Charles Catholic topped St. James 15-0 and 15-0 in a District 7-3A doubleheader on Tuesday. St. Charles improved to 19-5 and 8-1 in district, and St. James fell to 12-10 and 1-9 in district.
COVENANT CHRISTIAN WINS TWO
The Covenant Christian Academy softball team topped Highland Baptist, 13-1, on Monday and Harvest Time, 15-0, on Tuesday to improve to 7-0 in Louisiana Christian School Athletic Association play.
Rachel Seitz (7-0) got both wins in the circle for CCA.
Against Highland, Gabby McCorkel, Naomi Trujillo, Gabby Kimble and Harley Stoufflet all went 2-for-3, and against Harvest Time, Seitz allowed one hit, struck out eight and walked two and added a double at the plate.
Caitlin Ford and Taylor Bourgeois each added a hit for the Lady Lions on Tuesday.
WEATHER CHANGES SCHEDULE
Heavy rain on Monday in the area caused a couple of local games to be postponed on Tuesday.
Terrebonne will now host New Iberia later in the season, and Houma Christian will travel to play at Ecole Classique at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in Metairie.
