Terrebonne High senior baseball player Justin Williams signed a national letter-of-intent to play at LSU this morning.
Williams, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound slugger, is ranked in the Top 5 of most national high school baseball recruiting lists for 2013. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect according to Perfect Game, and ESPN.com recruiting article ranked him as the third-best outfielder in nation for the Class of 2013.
Williams, who plays shortstop for Terrebonne, is expected to play outfield at LSU next year.
After verbally committing to the Tigers baseball program as a junior, Williams officially honored his pledge by signing the scholarship. Williams signed during the fall early signing period.
Williams said he plans to play at LSU as a freshman, even though there is a good chance he could hear his name called in the early rounds of the Major League Baseball draft next year.
"It's great," Williams said. "I've always wanted to be a Bayou Bengal."
