Thibodaux stops East St. John on penalty kicks


Thibodaux High boys soccer team got its only win at the Woodlawn-Baton Rouge Tournament thanks to penalty kicks on Saturday.

The Tigers lost their opener to Woodlawn, 2-0 but bounced back with a win over East St. John.

The match with East St. John ended in a 2-2 tie sending it to penalty kicks. Thibodaux won on penalty kicks, 3-2.

Jace Haydel scored both goals for the Tigers in regulation against East St. John. The Tigers (2-2-1 overall) ended its tournament with a 1-0 loss to McKinely.

E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC 3, EAST JEFFERSON 0 (BOYS)

At Thibodaux, E.D. White got its first win of the season in beating East Jefferson on Yockey Bernard Field at Harvey Peltier Stadium on Saturday.

Colby Masse, Derek Knight and Seth Ledet each scored a goal for the Cardianls (1-2-3).

DOMINICAN 6, E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC 1 (GIRLS)

At Thibodaux, E.D. White fell to 1-3 on the season with its loss to Dominican on Yockey Bernard Field at Harvey Peltier Stadium on Saturday.

Dominican built a 3-0 halftime lead then outscored the Lady Cardinals 3-1 in the second half. Bobbie Grabert scored E.D. White's lone goal.

CENTRAL LAFORUCHE GOES 1-0-1 AT TOURNEY

At Lakeshore Classic, Central Lafourche's boys soccer team won its match against Ponchatoula before playing to a scoreless tie with Northshore on Saturday.

In the win against Ponchatoula, Trey Arabie scored the Trojans only goal.
