Houma Christian claims first place at Centerville tournament


CENTERVILLE — The Houma Christian boys basketball team won the first-place championship trophy at the Centerville tournament on Saturday.

Led by Nate Frye's 24 points, the Warriors picked up a 49-45 victory over host school Centerville.

Houma Christian, which improved to 2-0 overall, led 12-9 after the first quarter, 19-14 at halftime and 28-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Guy Campbell added 12 points for the Warriors.

 

TERREBONNE 63,

JEHOVAH-JIREH 24 (BOYS)

At the Hosanna Christian tournament, DeShaun Diggs scored 12 points as the Tigers improved to 3-3 overall.

Terrebonne led 15-6 after the first quarter, 28-17 at halftime and 48-19 at the end of the third quarter.

The Tigers will host rival Ellender in a nondistrict game on Monday.

 

FAMILY CHRISTIAN 67,

CENTRAL LAFOURCHE 43 (BOYS)

At the Hosanna Christian tournament, the Trojans dropped to 2-2 overall and got 12 points from Jeremiah Ballard and 10 points from John Paul Williams.

 

TERREBONNE 42,

WHITE CASTLE 39 (GIRLS)

At the White Castle tournament, Roynisha James led the Lady Tigers with 17 points in the win.

Terrebonne (5-3) trailed 12-11 after the first quarter and 22-18 at halftime before rallying back and tying the game at 11 at the end of the third quarter.

Darian Dees added eight points for Terrebonne.

 

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 60,

BOGALUSA 19 (GIRLS)

At the Country Day tournament, Cassidy Barrios scored 26 points and Laci LeBlanc added 11 points for the Lady Terriers (7-1) against Bogalusa.

On Friday, Vandebilt defeated Hammond 52-25, and Barrios scored 21 points in the win.

 

ST. MARTIN’S EPISCOPAL 41,

E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC 37 (GIRLS)

At the St. Martin’s tournament, Jordan Gros scored 15 points and Genna Larose added nine points, but it wasn’t enough for the Lady Cardinals (3-1).

E.D. White led 10-8 after the first quarter, 23-15 at halftime and 32-30 at the end of the third quarter.

 

BOYS SOCCER

VANDEBILT SPLITS AT COPA TOURNAMENT

At the Copa tournament, Vandebilt Catholic suffered a 3-0 loss to Bolton, but bounced back with a 2-0 win over Teurlings Catholic.

The Terriers record is now 3-4-2 overall.

E.D. WHITE AT COPA TOURNAMENT

At the Copa Tournament, the Cardinals opened the day with a 1-0 win over Country Day, but fell 1-0 to Alexandria in their second game.

Seth Ledet scored E.D. White’s goal against Country Day, and B.J. Gros was the goalie.

The Cardinals are now 5-3-3 overall.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

VANDEBILT GIRLS AT DOMINICAN TOURNAMENT

At New Orleans, the Lady Terriers split their two matches at the Dominican tournament.

Vandebilt (10-2) lost its first match to Dominican 3-2. Makelle Pena and Kim Grasso scored the two goals for Vandebilt.

In their second match, the Lady Terriers knocked off Sacred Heart of New Orleans, 5-1. Pena and Grasso each scored two goals, and Tayla Songe added one goal.

E.D. WHITE GIRLS AT SOCCER CLASSIC TOURNAMENT

At New Orleans, the Lady Cardinals (2-4-2) tied Ouachita Christian 2-2 and lost to Dutchtown 3-2.

Holly Bourgeois scored both goals against Ouachita Christian.

In the second match, the score was tied at 2 before Dutchtown scored late to win.

Tristan Gros scored both goals against Dutchtown, and Grace Rosado was the goalie.
