Trojans rally back to top Thibodaux, 5-2


MATHEWS — The Central Lafourche boys soccer team trailed by two goals at halftime in Tuesday’s Division 7-I match against Thibodaux.

Then came the second half.

The Trojans erupted for five second-half goals to top the Tigers 5-2 and improved to 6-1-2 overall and 3-0 in district play. Central Lafourche got a hat trick from Trey Arabie, a goal and an assist from Devin Foret and a goal from Ryan Breaux.

Jose Gutierrez had two assists for the Trojans, and Mason Sampey added another.

Forest Verdin had five saves in getting the win in goal for the Trojans. Thibodaux (5-4-1, 2-2 in district) got a goal from Nick Esteve and Chris Connell.

 

H.L. BOURGEOIS 4, SOUTH LAFOURCHE 1 (BOYS)

At Houma, the Braves moved to 1-2 in District 7-I on the strength of two goals from Blake Doiron and one each from Alec Cunningham and Rod Bonvillain. The Braves led 3-0 at halftime, and Nick Dumont got the win in goal.

 

NEW IBERIA 3 TERREBONNE 1 (BOYS)

At New Iberia, Nick Indovina scored the lone goal for the Tigers as they fell to 2-2 in District 7-I play.

 

CENTRAL LAFOURCHE 3, THIBODAUX 0 (GIRLS)

At Mathews, Alexis Monfra got the clean-sheet victory in goal and stopped a penalty kick to preserve the shutout, and Katelyn Falgout netted a hat trick as the Lady Trojans improved to 2-1 in District 7-I play.

 

H.L. BOURGEOIS 7, SOUTH LAFOURCHE 0 (GIRLS)

At Houma, the Lady Braves improved to 7-1-1 overall and 2-1 in District 7-1 and got a hat trick from Faylee Sokolowski.

Tandy Dubois added two goals for H.L. Bourgeois and Catherine Schexnayder and Katie Neal each added one. Ruth Gautreaux got the clean-sheet victory in goal.

 

TERREBONNE 3, NEW IBERIA 2 (GIRLS)

At New Iberia, the Lady Tigers improved to 5-6 overall and 4-0 in District 7-I.

Terrebonne led 2-1 at halftime and got goals from Kirstie Champagne, Joelie Cantrelle and Stevie Guin.

Guin made the match winner with 20 minutes left to play. Taylor Pichoff and Champagne each had assists for Terrebonne, and Madeline Adams got the victory in goal.

 

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 8, DESTREHAN 0 (GIRLS)

At Houma, the Lady Terriers led 6-0 at halftime and improved to 11-2 overall with the nondistrict victory.

Makelle Pena and Morgan Lewis each scored two goals for the Lady Terriers, and Olivia Domangue, Chichi Cajelas, Kayla Tanner and Carly Ellender each added one.

Sarah Comeaux got the clean-sheet victory in goal for the Lady Terriers.
