Trojans beat New Iberia in a battle for first


Central Lafourche broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the second half, and that was all the Trojans needed to beat New Iberia on Friday.

In a battle for first place in District 7-I, Central Lafourche’s Austin Gonzalez scored a goal with 20 minutes left in the match.

Bud Autin got an assist on the goal.

Trojans goalie, Forest Verdin, made that goal stand as he came up with 19 saves against the Yellow Jackets.

Central Lafourche improves to 7-1-2 overall and 4-0 in district.

 

THIBODAUX 6, SOUTH LAFOURCHE 1 (BOYS)

At Galliano, Thibodaux got a hat-trick from Victor Bimah in beating South Lafourche in Friday’s District 7-I match.

Besides Bimah’s three goals, Thibodaux (6-4-1 overall, 3-2 in district) got a goal each from Tiron Coler, Blaive Rodrigue and Nick Esteve.

 

E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC’S MATCH CANCELLED (BOYS)

E.D. White’s match with St. Martin’s was cancelled. Cardinals coach Roger Bimah said the match has to be rescheduled.

 

THIBODAUX 2, SOUTH LAFOURCHE 0 (GIRLS)

At Galliano, Courtney Hepola scored both goals for Thibodaux in Friday’s District 7-I win over South Lafourche.

Heather Naquin got an assist and Avery Theriot came up with four saves in goal for the Lady Tigers (4-4 overall, 2-2 in district).

 

NEW IBERIA 4,

CENTRAL LAFOURCHE 0 (GIRLS)

At New Iberia, New Iberia led 2-0 at halftime, then added two more goals in the second half of Friday’s District 7-I match. The Lady Trojans fell to 3-8-1 overall and 2-2 in district.

 

WESTGATE BEATS H.L. BOURGEOIS ON PENALTY KICKS

At Gray, Westage and H.L. Bourgeois had to settle Friday’s District 7-I match in penalty kicks.

After the match ended in a 1-1 tie in regulation, neither team was able to score in the first or second overtime. Westgate won the game with a 4-3 score in penalty kicks. Kaitlyn Aizen scored the Lady Braves lone goal in regulation. Ruth Gautreaux minded the goal for H.L. Bourgeois (7-2-1 overall, 2-2 in district).

 

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 8, ELLENDER 0 (GIRLS)

At Houma, Vandebilt got eight goals from eight different players in Friday’s District 8-II match against Ellender.

Makelle Pena, Kim Grasso, Carly Ellender, Jean Harson, Chi Chi Calejas, Grace Champagne and Taylor Tanner all scored for Vandebilt (12-2, 1-0) Also for Vandebilt, Julia Wood scored her first career goal.
