GAMES OF THE WEEK
Area high school basketball teams will be taking today and Sunday off for the Christmas holiday.
But several teams will return to action on Wednesday at tournaments throughout the state. Vandebilt Catholic will travel to Lafayette for the St. Thomas Moore Sunkist Shooutout, while the Plaquemine Tournament will feature four teams — Assumption, St. James, Thibodaux and Terrebonne.
These tournaments are scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
Thursday's action is highlighted by a pair of local tournaments — the E.D. White Cardinal Classic (boys tournament) and the Assumption's Lady Mustang Tournament (girls tournament).
The Cardinal Classic, a three-day round-robin tournament, features three local teams — E.D. White, South Lafourche and H.L. Bourgeois. The two-day Lady Mustang Tournament also follows a round-robin format and features Assumption, E.D. White and Thibodaux.
Some of the other local teams competing in tournaments are Vandebilt girls (Vermillion Catholic tournament), Terrebonne girls (Central Catholic tournament) and Central Lafourche boys and South Terrebonne boys (at East Ascension Tournament).

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"What it really took was me having three heart attacks at halftime after having to yell and scream to get us ready, but as a coach you have to do what you've got to do. They responded at halftime. We stopped giving them so many points on free throws in the second half." — H.L. Bourgeois coach Andrew Caillouet on his reaction at halftime during the Braves win over the Central Lafourche Trojans.
