GAMES OF THE WEEK
There are several key games that will shape the races in District 7-5A and 8-4A this week.
District 8-4A takes center stage on Tuesday with a key doubleheader at Ellender.
The Patriots will host Vandebilt Catholic in girls and boys games that could change the top of the district standings.
The only District 7-5A game with any title implications on Tuesday is the Thibdaux at New Iberia girls game. Both teams are unbeaten in district, and the winner will stand alone in first place with the second half of district play starting on Friday.
District 7-5A is front and center on Friday with two games among the Top 4 boys teams.
H.L. Bourgeois hosts New Iberia in a battle for first place, while South Lafourche travels to play Westgate.
In District 7-3A, St. James will try to stay unbeaten in district by hosting Donaldsonville on Tuesday and Port Allen on Friday.
In girls action on Friday, Ellender is home against Assumption in a District 8-4A game between teams on track for the playoffs.
GIRLS TEAM OF THE WEEK
The Thibodaux Lady Tigers went 2-0 last week to improve to 14-7 overall and 5-0 in District 7-5A. Thibodaux defeated Central Lafourche, 71-48, on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers continued their good play with a 51-23 win over South Lafourche on Friday.
BOYS TEAM OF THE WEEK
The South Terrebonne Gators went 1-1 last week with a win over Morgan City and a five-point loss to Ellender. The Gators (5-13, 2-2 in District 8-4A) defeated Morgan City, 59-54, on Tuesday. South Terrebonne played well against Ellender but lost 57-52 on Friday.
STARS OF THE WEEK
--E.D. White’s Jordan Gros had consecutive games of 21 points against Donaldsonville and Port Allen last week. Gros passed the 1,000-point mark in her career.
--Thibodaux’s Eris Stove scored 22 points in the Lady Tigers’ win over Central Lafourche on Tuesday.
--St. James’ Titiana Joseph finished with 17 points in a win over St. Charles Catholic on Friday.
--Houma Christian’s Alicia Johnson scored 16 points in a loss to Country Day on Tuesday.
--Ellender’s Cameron Parfait poured in 30 points in the Patriots’ win over South Terrebonne on Friday.
--South Lafourche’s Treavon Evans scored 30 points in a loss to H.L. Bourgeois on Tuesday.
--Covenant Christian Academy’s Datren Williams scored 25 points in a win over Haynes Academy on Tuesday.
--Houma Christian’s Nate Frye scored 21 points in a win over Ridgewood Prep on Friday.
