Area bowling teams start 2013 season


The 2013 high school bowling season officially began on Wednesday for the Houma/Morgan City region.

Big winners on the opening day were South Terrrebonne, H.L. Bourgeois, Morgan City and Berwick, as each school swept the boys and girls events. The Vandebilt Catholic boys also opened the season with a win.

H.L. BOURGEOIS VS. SOUTH LAFOURCHE

At Creole Lanes in Houma, the H.L. Bourgeois boys and girls opened the season with wins over South Lafourche.

The boys team picked up a 23.5-3.5 win over the Tarpons. Leading the Braves were

Aaron Roberson (257 and 202 games), Craig Soudelier (257) and Marlon Hinton (218 and 201). South Lafourche’s top bowler was Jake Terry (212 and 208).

In girls action, the Lady Braves picked up a 21-6 win. H.L. Bourgeois’ top bowlers were Bridgette Soudelier (195 and 157) and Janette Besson (160). South Lafourche’s top bowlers was Carley Callais (158 and 150).

SOUTH TERREBONNE  VS.. ELLENDER

At Bowl South in Houma, South Terrebonne boys and girls bowling teams each posted 17-10 wins over Ellender.

South Terrebonne’s top boys bowlers were Treville LeBeouf (263 and 205) and Gabe Ardoin (205). The Lady Gators top bowlers were Kelsey Blanchard (178) and Harley Chatiengier (161).

Ellender’s top boys bowlers were Darrin Price (206) and Ronnie Voisin (201). Leading the Lady Patriots was Kimberly Linton (174).

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC  VS. E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC

At Creole Lanes in Houma, the Terriers opened the season with a 24-3 win over the Cardinals. Only the boys team competed on Wednesday.

Vandebilt’s top bowlers were Ian Crispino (219), Gavin Theriot (211 and 209) and Garrett Blanchard (208). E.D. White’s top bowlers was Hunter Boudreaux (224 and 203).

MORGAN CITY VS. TERREBONNE

At Creole Lanes in Houma, Morgan City opened the season with 20-7 (boys) and 20.5-6.5 (girls) wins over Terrebonne.

Morgan City’s top boys bowlers were Chandler Delaune (237 and 233), Taylor Brocato (231 and 214), Ryan Veillon (222) and Lang Bui (209). Terrebonne’s top boys bowlers Tom Dzarnowski (222), Zach Zanca (215) and Brett Soignet (203).

In girls action, Morgan City was led by Kristi Wright (152), and Terrebonne’s top bowler was Victoria Rodriguez (125).

BERWICK VS. CENTRAL CATHOLIC-MORGAN CITY

At Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City, Berwick opened the season by sweeping Central Catholic-Morgan City — 24.5-2.5 (boys) and 21-6 (girls) — on Wednesday.

Berwick’s top boys bowler was Devon Quick (268 and 226), while leading the Lady Panthers was Katie Chandler (153).

For Central Catholic, Josh Abney (214) led the boys team, while Katrina Robertson, Ann Mary Dupuis and Jada Pennison (each with a 146) led the Lady Eagles.
