E.D. White girls soccer team surges past Lady Braves


GRAY — The E.D. White Catholic Lady Cardinals will head into the Division II state soccer playoffs with some momentum.

E.D. White got two second-half goals from Holly Bourgeois to beat the H.L. Bourgeois Lady Braves, 3-1, in Monday's nondistrict soccer match.

The Lady Cardinals (9-8-4 overall) took a 1-0 lead in the first half behind a goal from Morgan Becnel.

The Lady Braves (11-7-2) tied the match at 1 when Katie Neil scored in the second half, but Holly Bourgeois would find the back of the net twice in the second half giving E.D. White the win.

TERREBONNE 1, H.L. BOURGEOIS 0 (BOYS)

At Houma, Terrebonne got a goal from Juan Norigea to beat H.L. Bourgeois in Monday's District 7-I match.

Derek DeHart got the win in goal for Terrebonne (5-7 in district).

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 3, MORGAN CITY 0 (BOYS)

At Morgan City, the Terriers finished the regular season 11-8-2 overall and 6-2 in district with Monday's win. Stats were not available.

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 1, HAHNVILLE 1 (GIRLS)

At Boutte, the Lady Terriers led 1-0 at halftime and got a goal from Makelle Pena in moving to 23-2-1 overall.
