Tarpons hold off Thibodaux, 58-51

GALLIANO -- Treavon Evans scored 35 points to help the South Lafourche Tarpons keep their Class 5A playoff hopes alive with a 58-51 win over the Thibodaux Tigers on Monday night.
Despite Evans' effort, the Tarpons had to hold on late for the win.
South Lafourche (17-10 overall, 8-4 in District 7-5A) appeared to have control of the game early after taking a 15-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Tarpons extended their lead to 20-0 with six minutes left in the second quarter before Thibodaux scored. South Lafourche led 30-12 at halftime.
Thibodaux (13-15, 4-8 in 7-5A) started to mount a comeback adn took its first lead of the game at 40-36 with four minutes left to play. South Lafourche would retake the lead and pulled away for the seven-point win
THIBODAUX 58, SOUTH LAFOURCHE 46(GIRLS)
A back-and-forth game that saw numerous lead changes ended with the Thibodaux girls team pulling away late for a 58-46 win over South Lafourche Monday night in Galliano.
After holding a slim 35-32 edge at the end of the third period, Thibodaux finally built a decisive lead on the strength of Eris Stove's 11 points. Stove led all Thibodaux scorers with 18 points on the night.
"She's been huge for us the last three weeks," Thibodaux coach Damon Robinson said. "I thought we did a good job of turning them over late, but give them credit for playing a good game."
With the win, Thibodaux ends its District 7-5A season with a 8-4 mark, while South Lafourche drops to 6-6.
The Lady Tigers led 12-9 at the conclusion of the first period thanks to a pair of 3-pointers.
After Thibodaux jumped in front 16-9 early in the second, South Lafourche went on a 14-3 run to gain a 23-19 lead with 1:24 remaining in the half.
South Lafourche knotted things up at 44-44 on a Jodi Loupe 3-pointer with 2:58 left, but were bested 14-2 down the stretch. Maggie Plaisance led South Lafourche with 16 points, while Loupe chipped in 12.
