GAMES OF THE WEEK
The Easter holidays are over for most local schools, and several area baseball and softball teams are stepping into some big games with huge district and playoff implications this week.
Central Lafourche will host New Iberia in a showdown of 5-0 teams in District 7-5A play on Tuesday. The game will be played at 5 p.m. in Mathews.
Also on Tuesday, South Terrebonne visits Vandebilt Catholic in a key District 8-4A contest. The game will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vandebilt.
In softball action, Vandebilt will try to clinch the outright District 8-4A title with a win at Morgan City on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Assumption’s softball team will host Morgan City in an important game that could decide the second-seeded team in District 8-4A.
BASEBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK
Central Lafourche, which once had a 0-10 record after forfeiting several games earlier this season due to the use of ineligible players, has turned things around with a 5-0 mark in District 7-5A play.
The Trojans (7-16 overall) picked up district wins over Westgate, South Lafourche and Thibodaux last week.
SOFTBALL TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Vandebilt Catholic and Houma Christian continue to dominate their opponents in district play. The Lady Terriers moved to 16-5 overall and 6-0 in District 8-4A, while the Lady Warriors are 16-4 and 8-0 in District 10-1A. Both can wrap up district titles this week.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Our young team throughout the season is starting to be a seasoned club. The freshmen we have been playing with for almost 20 games now have that mentality that 4-0 doesn’t matter after one inning. Seven innings is a long time. We have a lot of time to make that comeback. And that is exactly what we did,” — Central Lafourche coach Scott Duplantis after his team rallied to beat district rival South Lafourche 9-4 on Thursday.
