Tri-City Flyers compete at AAU qualifier meet

The Houma-based Tri-City Flyers summer track program competed at the AAU national qualifier meet at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans on Friday and Saturday.
The Top 5 finishers qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics later this summer in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics were two athletes who won all of their events in Dewayne Reed (17- and 18-year-old long jump, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash) and Brandon McDonald (15- and 16-year-old 2,000-meter steeplechase and 3,000-meter run).
Other qualifiers were Shazz Preston (fifth in 10-year-old long jump), Shawn Preston Jr. (second in 14-year-old high jump), Khari Coleman (fourth in 15- and 16-year-old long jump) and Joya Tardieff (third in 17- and 18-year-old 100-meter hurdles).
