AAU teams compete Sunday

Three local AAU boys basketball teams were in action at the AAU national championships on Sunday in Orlando, Fla.
The L.T. Rockets' eighth-grade boys basketball team capped Division II pool play with a 2-1 record with wins of 44-31 over the Illinois Ballers and 54-45 over the Massachusetts Shooting Stars on Sunday.
Cornelius Washington led the L.T. Rockets with 15 points against the Illinois Ballers, and Rayshawn Mart Jr. added 14 points. Against the Shooting Stars, Washington scored 15 points and Quentin Scott added 12 points.
The Rockets will play their first bracket game against the Broward Storm today.
The Louisiana Bayou Flames Elite also competed in Division II eighth-grade boys action on Sunday, getting a 56-38 win over the Cap City Ballers and suffering a 78-52 loss to the Wiz Kids.
Da'Vaughn Guano led the Flames with 22 points against the Cap City Ballers, while Richard Green 10 points and Da'Vontavean Martin with 10. In the loss to the Wiz Kids, Martin scored 22 points and Guano added 10 points.
The Bayou Flames will start bracket play today against an opponent to be determined.
The L.T. Rockets 11th grade team lost 61-49 to Wings Select. Stats were unavailable for the game.
