LBA wins two games


The Louisiana Baseball Academy Naturals Blue 12U USSSA select baseball team based in Houma wrapped up pool play at a tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown, N.Y., with two wins on Tuesday.

LBA beat Doylestown, Mich., 13-12 in Game 1 and topped Elmhurst, Ill., 15-4 in Game 2.

In the opening game of the day for the Naturals Blue (27-9-1) there were nine lead changes, and Gavin Dugas hit two home runs and was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored for LBA.

Gabriel Theiss, Cameron Folse and Thailer Lovell (three RBIs) all added home runs for LBA.

Doylestown scored seven runs in the third inning, but was out-hit 13-10 in the game.

Braden Whatley got the win for LBA.

In the second game of the day, the Naturals Blue scored 12 runs in the first inning and pounded out 18 hits.

Lovell, Gabriel (two homers) and Kolby Dufrene each had three hits, and Dugas (five RBIs) added two home runs. Whitney had a homer and three RBIs.

Folse got the win on the mound.

LBA opens play in the 104-team bracket portion of the event today.
