Thibodaux edges Franklin, 53-52, at Morgan City tournament


MORGAN CITY—Thibodaux’s boys basketball team defeated Franklin, 53-52, at the Morgan City boys basketball tournament on Tuesday.

 The Tigers advanced to tonight's tourney title game, which is set for 6 p.m..

Thibodaux got 17 points from Rayshad King, 14 points from Natron Nora and 10 points from Leon Gordon.

The Tigers led 16-12 after the first quarter, 27-19 at halftime and 41-40 at the end of the third quarter.

 

TERREBONNE 72,

SOUTH TERREBONNE 67 (BOYS)

At the Morgan City Tournament, the Tigers got 20 points from Raikwon Fluker and 13 points from Justin Theriot in the overtime win.

Keyshawn George and DeVaughn Gauno added 10 points each for Terrebonne, which will play at 2 today in the event.

DeVontavean Martin scored 27 points and Chandler Arceneaux added 15 points for the Gators.

 

PONCHATOULA 63,

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC 48 (BOYS)

At the St. Thomas Aquinas Tournament in Hammond, the Terriers fell to 2-1 on the season and got 19 points from Palmer Hill. Ponchatoula led 37-25 at halftime. The Terriers play Evangel at 3 today in the tourney.

 

HAHNVILLE 68,

ST. JAMES 51 (BOYS)

At Boutte, the Wildcats got 31 points from Raylen Kennedy and 12 points from Chandler Nelson but fell to 0-3 on the season with the nondistrict loss.

 

HOUMA CHRISTIAN 45,

REDEMPORIST 34 (BOYS)

At the Ascension Catholic Tournament in Donaldsonville, the Warriors improved to 1-1 overall and got 18 points from Guy Campbell, 10 points from Drake Battaglia and seven points from Devon Carter.

The Warriors led 14-6 after the first quarter, 22-7 at halftime and 27-17 at the end of the third quarter. Houma Christian plays again in the tourney at 5:30 today.

 

FRANKLIN 69,

SOUTH TERREBONNE 48 (BOYS)

At the Morgan City Tournament, the Gators got 15 points from Chandler Arceneaux and nine points from Davontaveon Martin in the loss on Monday night.

 

ASSUMPTION 56,

WHITE CASTLE 50 (BOYS)

At the White Castle Tournament, the Mustangs prevailed in overtime on Monday night and improved to 2-0 and got 15 points from Jordan Andrew, 11 points from Kenyatta Charles and 10 points from Denzell Johnson.

 

FRENCH SETTLEMENT 57,

HOUMA CHRISTIAN 38 (BOYS)

At the Ascension Catholic Tournament in Donaldsonville, the Warriors fell to 0-1 on the season and got 11 points from Battaglia, 10 points from Campbell and seven points from Carter.

The Warriors trailed 17-5 after the first quarter, 29-13 at halftime and 54-24 at the end of the third quarter.
